To put it simply, if you are interested in developing a world class design sector in Ireland and you believe that focusing on the business of design will help achieve that aim, then it is important that your company joins the ranks of Ireland’s only completely business-focused design representative body.
Design Business Ireland is a membership organisation that we will grow gradually as an identified association of 'premier level' professional design consultancies who have the focus of 'business excellence'. This message is promoted very strongly via the IDEA awards and will be promoted heavily this year via advertising, promotion and PR.
You also get a spread in the annual Design Business Ireland Practice Directory - D'Book. This is the only directory of premium design consultancies in Ireland and it is distributed to decision makers in the client community and government bodies.
Membership of Design Business Ireland provides many benefits, some of which are simply the result of association with other design firms, more tangible benefits are as follows:
Business Intelligence
Design Business Ireland pursues on an on-going basis the collection of business intelligence on topics that are centred on keeping members up to date with trends and any other information that assists our members in the tactical management of their firms. This includes initiative such as salary surveys, industry surveys and publications of information on business issues such as Trademark, Copyright and Accounting.
Networking
Networking with others in the same industry gives members an insight into 'best practice', an opportunity for joint venture, outsourcing, merger or aquisition as well as a social outlet of like minded individuals and a staff motivation opportunities via events such as Golf, Pool, Book Launches and pure Social Networking Events. It also offers business opportunities through its involvement with other institutions and government agencies.
Professional Development and Training
Design Business Ireland offers you a central source of information and opportunity for CPD and staff training via links with the Design Ireland 'Skillnets' Programme of whom our predecessor the GDBA are a founder member. Opportunities to ‘design’ specific course and training initiatives are available to all members.
More significantly Design Business Ireland provides learning through close association with other companies within your own discipline. Traditionally the the GDBA was proud of the close relationship developed between its member companies where company owners were encouraged to seek advice form their peers. Design Business Ireland will continue this tradition.
Delivering Members requests
It should be remembered that at present Design Business Ireland is a volunteer body that relies on the good offices and dedication of a small number of design leaders to promote and manage the organisation. However it is vital to recognize the importance of participation by Members and the commitment by Design Business Ireland to pursue any reasonable intitiative proposed by any member.
